The 2012 Concrete Road Trip - Back to Basics in the Kootenays
Celebrating a decade of adventure and camaraderie, a group of 63 people, 38 motorcycles and 7 cars, hit the road on July 20 for the 10th annual BCRMCA Concrete Road Trip. The group rendezvoused in Sun Peaks, and visited Jasper and Lake Louise before winding up in Kelowna. Drivers battled a range of weather and road conditions, including sleet in Jasper, snow in Lake Louise and an impassible mudslide outside of Field, before relaxing in the heat of a beautiful summer evening in Kelowna. All seemed to agree a little adversity and the rugged beauty of the Rockies made for an interesting and memorable trip.
BCRMCA congratulates this year’s trophy winners:
People’s Choice Award - Shannon Styles
Best Bike (Harley) - Phil Janzen
Best Metric Bike (Non-Harley) - Denise Kelly
Best Car - Julie Koop
We also send a special thank you to all the generous sponsors: Allison Transmission, Universal Concrete Accessories/Brock White, Diamond Equipment, Finning, Inland Kenworth, Lafarge Canada, Lehigh Hanson, Magnum Concrete, P & R Western Star and Western Star Trucks. This event would not be possible without your support!
Thanks also to Bob Fast and Mac Makenny who have acted as road trip organizers for the past 10 years. At this year’s Wrap-up Party, Bob and Mac stepped down and handed the torch to two-wheeled enthusiasts Brad Pope and Ken Love. Thank you, gentlemen, for stepping up to the plate — we look forward to working with you on next year’s trip!
